BlueData to accelerate HPE’s growth in AI/ML and big data analytics by extending related offerings for customers and partners

Our customers are living in a data-driven world and the volume of information they generate is growing exponentially. As a result, companies are increasingly investing in the hardware, software, and services needed to gain actionable insights from their data. By 2022, the total addressable market for artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and big data is expected to grow to approximately $160 billion.[1] However, according to Gartner, by 2020 half of organizations will lack sufficient AI and data literacy skills needed to extract business value from their data, and they are already demanding easier-to-implement, faster-to-deploy, and more cost-effective solutions for AI/ML and big data analytics.[2]

Today, HPE announced that we are acquiring BlueData, a leading provider of AI/ML and big data analytics infrastructure software, which will significantly expand our footprint in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence and big data analytics space. This acquisition is consistent with our data-first strategy and will enable us to provide an easier, faster, and more cost-effective way to deploy machine learning, data science and analytics applications – whether on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid architecture.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Santa Clara, BlueData is a leading provider of container-based software that transforms how enterprises deploy AI/ML and big data analytics. BlueData’s current customers include Citi, GlaxoSmithKline, Nasdaq, and Macy’s, among others.

Adding BlueData’s technology to HPE’s market-leading AI/ML and big data analytics solutions is consistent with HPE’s data-first strategy and extends the value we can deliver to customers as they address AI/ML and big data deployment challenges. By seamlessly combining BlueData’s software platform with HPE’s existing software-defined infrastructure and services, we will be able to help customers accelerate their AI and big data transformations by providing an all-encompassing and easy-to-implement solution. With this turn-key solution, customers can potentially reduce their costs significantly and deliver faster time-to-insights from their data.

In addition, BlueData’s technology will enable HPE customers to:

  • Launch containerized AI/ML and big data environments within minutes, through an as-a-service experience
  • Deliver the agility and efficiency benefits of Docker containers, while ensuring comparable performance to traditional bare-metal deployments
  • Quickly deploy AI/ML and big data analytics applications either on-premises, in a multi-cloud model, or in a hybrid architecture
  • Provide the enterprise-grade security necessary to keep data safe, with a multi-tenant platform proven in production at scale

I know our team is looking forward to fully integrating BlueData’s leading technology into HPE’s portfolio of solutions. We expect to close the deal within HPE’s fiscal first quarter, which ends January 31, 2019. Together, HPE and BlueData can help our customers harness the power of their data with a solution that makes it easier, faster, and more cost-effective to deploy AI/ML and big data analytics.

NTU and HP Inc. to Advance Digital Manufacturing Worldwide - storage solution Architect

Today Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), global technology leader HP Inc., and the National Research Foundation (NRF) announced the new HP-NTU Digital Manufacturing Corporate Lab.

As Singapore’s newest corporate research laboratory and HP’s largest university research collaboration worldwide, the HP-NTU Corporate Lab will drive innovation, technology, skills and economic development critical for the advancement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This is HP’s first university laboratory collaboration in Asia.

The $84 million lab supports Singapore’s push toward industry transformation – in the areas of digital manufacturing and 3D printing technologies. Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering is one of four technology domains under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2020 Plan, which is Singapore’s national strategy to develop a knowledge-based innovation-driven economy and society.

The new Corporate Lab will be a key pillar of NTU’s Smart Campus initiative and will build on HP’s strong research and manufacturing capabilities.
At launch, there will be 15 priority projects to better understand:

• New materials and applications: including advanced polymers for manufacturing applications, the development of bioprinting models toward printing viable tissues, and 4D printed smart systems that adapt shape with temperature change;

Artificial intelligence and machine learning: helping printers autonomously predict and resolve issues;

Cybersecurity: research to improve end-to-end point security infrastructure and malware mitigation.The collaboration will also include developing educational curriculum on designing for Additive Manufacturing – covering areas such as data management, security, user experience and business models.
“One out of every three jobs worldwide, more than 30% of global GDP, and nearly one-third of carbon emissions are related to manufacturing,” said Weisler. “We are committed to innovating with purpose, not only driving the technology breakthroughs that improve HP’s business but also contribute to creating economic opportunity and improving people’s lives.”
HP began its presence in Singapore in 1970, Today, Singapore is home to its Asia Pacific & Japan Regional Headquarters, global supply chain control towers, and print manufacturing.

The edge-centric, cloud-enabled, data-driven enterprise of the future

HPE’s unique strategy brings edge, cloud, intelligent storage, and financial solutions together to create the innovative enterprise helping shape the future.

As digital transformation continues to disrupt every industry in every corner of the globe, the next phase of this evolution is upon us. Now data creation happens more at the edge, the retention of data is more important than ever before, less data is wasted, and the pace of innovation increases  in all industries, from healthcare to agriculture. That’s why our strategy is to accelerate your enterprise from edge to cloud, helping you connect all of your data, all of your edges, all of your clouds — everywhere.

Each of you is on a data transformation journey. And in most cases, the goal is to gain speed and agility so you can focus on accelerating innovation. We have created HPE to uniquely address the three biggest areas that could be slowing you down — transformation of your technology, transformation of your people and processes, and transformation of your economics.

Today, 75% of data is created at the edge, but 94% of that data is untapped or lost. This data waste is a missed opportunity and lost value. HPE knows the value of data and the insight it can give us, and that’s why have announced our commitment to invest $4 billion in the Intelligent Edge over the next four years. This will accelerate our ability to innovate like never before, developing technologies to enable real-time insights, personalized experiences, and instant action.
